Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine

Osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM) is a comprehensive set of manual, or hands-on, maneuvers to help diagnose, prevent, and treat a range of conditions and injuries. OMM  examines the root cause of a patient’s condition and encourages healing of the whole body. OMM involves a trained osteopathic physician, or DO, utilizing various techniques including stretching, resisting and placing gentle pressure on joints and muscles. We use a range of osteopathic manipulations, including cranial osteopathy and joint mobilization, to promote healing of the following conditions:

  • Muscle pain & strain

  • Back pain

  • Neck pain

  • Asthma

  • Sinus disorders

  • Carpal tunnel syndrome

  • Migraines

  • Menstrual pain

Trigger Point Injections

Trigger point injection (TPI) is a procedure used to treat painful areas of muscle that contain trigger points that irritate the nerves around them and cause pain in various parts of the body. When using TPI, we inject targeted trigger points with a local anesthetic and saline, helping reduce pain and spasming. Several trigger points can be injected during one in-office treatment, and you may only need one treatment to experience sustained relief. We use TPI to help alleviate pain of:

  • Lower back

  • Upper back

  • Shoulders

  • Neck

  • Headaches

Ultrasound-Guided Injections

We use ultrasound-guided injections to help relieve pain with accuracy. Less invasive than surgery, this therapy can help relieve pain fro various ailments, including arthritis and tendonitis. We utilize ultrasound technology together with injections of pain-relieving substances such as local anesthesia, homeopathics, dextrose, cortisone or platelet-rich plasma supplements. The ultrasound brings effectiveness to the injection by ensuring that it is placed into target points of the body with precision.

Platelet Rich Plasma Injections

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy, which uses the body’s own healing properties, is another alternative to drugs or surgery. With PRP therapy, we draw platelets from the patient’s blood and suspend them in protein-rich plasma. The combined substance is injected into the affected area, stimulating the body’s own healing process by decreasing pain, rebuilding tissue and improving mobility. PRP treatment can help treat arthritis, low back pain, sports injuries, meniscus issue and many others.

Neural Therapy

Neural therapy is used to decrease pain, restore blocked nerve and energy flow and improve the appearance of scars. It is administered through micro-injections of a local anesthetic at the site of an injury or scar tissue to help resolve interferences in the electrochemical communication between different tissues of the body. We enhance the effectiveness of neural therapy by adding osteopathic manipulative therapy to the treatment. Neural therapy can be used for longstanding illness or chronic pain from surgery, infections, accidents, childbirth or burns.

Neurosomatic Therapy

Neurosomatic therapy (NST) is a manual therapy that identifies and corrects structural patterns in the body. A distortion in a patient’s body form often causes chronic pain and is often correlated to improper body function. When using NST, we first conduct an analysis of our patients’ posture and movement patterns. Then, we customize treatment that includes a combination of noninvasive techniques, such as massage therapy, posturology and corrective exercise, to help patients with pain relief. NST can be used to treat the following conditions:

  • Carpal tunnel syndrome

  • Thoracic outlet syndrome

  • TMJ

  • Tennis elbow

  • Sciatica

  • Piriformis syndrome

  • Rotator cuff strain

  • Frozen shoulder

  • Range of motion restriction

  • Fibromyalgia

  • Plantar fasciitis

  • Headaches

  • Whiplash

  • Tendinitis

  • Constipation

  • IBS

  • Bulging discs

Frequency-Specific Microcurrent

Frequency-specific microcurrent (FSM) is a pain treatment technique with which a special device is used to deliver a mild electrical current to certain parts of the patient’s body. The electrical current used in this treatment is extremely mild and safe. FSM can treat various types of pain - chronic myofascial pain, nerve pain from nerve traction injuries, disc bulges, herniations, shingles, kidney stone pain, disc and facet joint pain or fibromyalgia associated with neck trauma and more.
